Oversight for strategic planning. Responsible for personnel issues in 2011-12. | Judith Rose | | FINANCE | Maintains fiscal integrity by monitoring congregational expenditures and income, ensures budgetary compliance, prepares annual budget for approval by the Board & congregation. | Sarah Wasserman | | | DUES SUB-COMMITTEE Considers and determines all dues reduction requests. Reviews dues categories and rates to Board. | | | GREENING | Motivates and enables Beth Shalom members to cut their household energy usage. Assists in cutting synagogue utility consumption and making the building more environmentally friendly. | Lana Eisenberg and Victoria Hilkevitch Bedford | | HOUSE | Responsible for oversight of the Beth Shalom building & grounds, including facilities upkeep, long-term capital planning, and major maintenance projects. Compiles and updates information on all major building systems. Serves as think tank for all building related issues. | Dan Price | | MEMBERSHIP | Strengthens the Beth Shalom community by reaching out to potential members, welcoming & integrating new members, and developing programs that will engage existing members. | Jerry Myerson | | MITZVAH | Responds to births, deaths, and illness in the congregation by assisting members in various ways. Prepares and stocks frozen meals. Coordinates with the ChevraKadisha in providing support for the bereaved. | Laurel Bender | | NOMINATING | Recommends officers & committee chairs to the Board and congregation. Plans ways to identify, mentor, and motivate new leaders. Selects limited – and doable – number of events for the year and coordinates them, i.e., may ask others to be responsible. | Judith Jacobs | | RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE | Works closely with the Rabbi on ritual and observance issues affecting the congregation. Topics may include choice of prayer books, kashrut policies, use of electronic media in the sanctuary, the role of non-Jews in ritual or worship, and ways to grow attendance at worship services. | Carolyn Lipson-Walker | | RELIGIOUS EDUCATION | Working in partnership with staff, develops and evaluates the policies, budget, curriculum, and strategic plan for the Religious School. Involves parents in supporting the School’s programs and general religious education.
