Search Committee co-chairs Aviva Orenstein and Bruce Solomon. To avoid duplication and use our

limited time wisely, questions must be sent by 5 p.m., Thursday the 2nd, to

bethshalomrabbisearch@gmail.com. To compare the two candidates, we will repeat many of

the questions from our last candidate.

CHILD CARE will be provided for children ages 2-11 during Friday night services and Saturday

MiSheberach list: Beginning February 1st, there will be a change in how we maintain our MiSheberach list. NAMES OF CONGREGANTS ONLY will be read from the bimah during Friday night and Saturday morning services. Those in attendance at those services will be given an opportunity to add the names of friends and relatives before the MiSheberach prayer is recited – in the same way we add names to the Yahrzeit list in real time. This change is not taken lightly, and comes in response to significant congregant feedback about the (growing) length of the list. We hope this compromise will meet the needs of most members.

Friday, Feb 10th at 6 pm:  Spirit of Tu B'Shvat Salad Bar Dinner, in honor of Tu B'Shvat!  Josh Herman will be here, and Carolyn Lipson-Walker helps with music, blessings & singing.  $5/person; $15/family.  Please RSVP as soon as possible to our Doodle Chart at http://www.doodle.com/8y37wa96kg4sy4r5

Mah Jongg Teaching Sessions:  If you are interested in learning to play Mah Jongg, join Linda Kaplan at the Beth Shalom Library from 1 – 3 pm, and mark your calendars for either or both of the following dates:   Tuesday, Feb 7, 2012 and/or  Sunday, Feb 19, 2012

SAVE THE DATE!

Sunday, February 12 from 4 – 6 pm:  CONGREGATIONAL MEETING, members-only
Please join us and members of the Rabbi Search Committee in a discussion of our rabbinic candidates and possible next steps.  Childcare will be provided.

Thursday, February 16 at noon:  The Gathering resumes!  Shelley Sallee and Nancy Richman will discuss "The History and Future of Volunteers in Medicine in Bloomington."  Shelley Sallee is the Volunteer Coordinator for Volunteers in Medicine and Nancy Richman is its new Executive Director.  Both have a passion for not-for-profit healthcare, and will share the story of our local excellent free medical clinic for adults without health insurance or the economic means to pay for health care.  Cost per luncheon is $10/members and $12/nonmembers of Beth Shalom.  Make your check payable to Beth Shalom and send it to Phyllis Dumes, 3910 Sage Court, Bloomington, IN  47401.  To make a reservation or find a ride to this event, call or email Phyllis Dumes.

Gan Shalom Request:  Seeking donations of tin cans (cleaned, with labels removed) for class project.
