“Reach across religious and political boundaries to promote responsible stewardship” (from Creation Care Task Force mission statement)
Divisions over what should be of universal concern – the environmental crisis - has motivated the Creation Care Task to reach out to Evangelical Community Church to talk. Over several potlucks, thirty-five members of Beth Shalom and Evangelical Community Church have been getting to know each other as we consider environmental challenges and how we might tackle them together. We’re excited that groups of CBS and ECC members have formed to focus on different activities:
· Advocacy and education on behalf of renewable energy for IU
· Using our green spaces efficiently - habitat & environmental impact on our grounds and beyond
· Joint Christian/Jewish /Muslim teachings on creation care
· Inter- and intra-faith partnerships for energy conservation
· Joint outings for kids to foster love of nature & educate on creation care
If, in this divisive time, reaching across boundaries to tackle our environmental crisis together sounds appealing, please contact co-chairs Dan Price (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Madi Hirschland (email@example.com).
“Look at My works! See how beautiful they are—how excellent! For your sake I created them all. See to it that you do not spoil and destroy My world; for if you do, there will be no one else to repair it.”
